Portishead dominated the opening 30 minutes of this game, creating chance after chance almost every time they went forward, with Eastwood in particular causing all sorts of problems down the left-hand side. However, the home side goalkeeper pulled off several excellent saves as well as seeing his defenders make two goal line clearances to keep their clean sheet intact. Town took their foot off the gas and were made to pay for it, with the home side taking the lead against the run of play after 35mins, an audacious 65-yard free-kick lobbing Ley in the Portishead goal. A stunned Posset then conceded a quick second after 40mins. This turned out to be the kick up the backside that Town needed, as they immediately went down the other end and scored, Clarke smashing home a free-kick from outside the area. Town grabbed their second just minutes later on the stroke of half-time, Clarke bagging his second of the afternoon meaning honours were even at the half.
The second half continued much like the first, with the away side dominating possession and creating a number of clear-cut chances. After some good build-up play, Eastwood deservedly got on the scoresheet, firing low into the bottom corner. The home-side rallied in the middle of the half, creating some good opportunities themselves before scoring a direct free-kick on 60mins to pull it back to 4-3. But it was the visitors who would push on and take all three points, with Eastwood grabbing his second of the afternoon before Freeman put the tie to bed with two well taken strikes in the last 20mins. Final score, 6-3 to the visitors.
A good result on the road despite a poor performance, something that Posset will need to correct next week when they host unbeaten Welton Rovers Reserves at home on 28/09/19 in Somerset County Division 2.
