PTFC U9 GIRLS PUMAS RUN FOR CHARITY
PTFC Girls U9 Pumas have raised over £2000 for a children’s hospice by running a combined total of 150 miles throughout January. The Pumas wanted to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), whilst also building team spirit.
CHSW’s local hospice, Charlton Farm, is just a few miles away from PTFC in Wraxall. It provides respite, palliative, and end of life care to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. CHSW relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to exist.
The girls ran the final mile, as a team, around the grounds of Charlton Farm, cheered on by parents, hospice staff and volunteers. Everyone at PTFC could not be prouder of the Pumas.

CLUB EVENT
Family Fun Day & Legends Match
September saw another fantastic event at Bristol Road as PTFC hosted a Family Fun Day & ‘Legends’ match. The event was to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, Penny Brohn UK & local legend Ollie Hatfield. Ollie, a former PTFC player and coach, was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and the club wanted to support him and his amazing family, during his treatment.
The day had live music, DJ sets, incredible food, drink, bouncy castles and more, as, seemingly, most of Portishead descended on Bristol Road to show their support to Ollie and enjoy a great day out.
To top it all off a literal who’s who of PTFC past greats ran out onto the Bristol Road turf one more time. They may have been slightly slower, but they hadn’t lost any of their competitiveness.
It really was a memorable day put on by Sophie Simmonds and her team, and raised a massive amount for some great causes. The number of people through the gates showed exactly why Portishead is such a special place and why it is so important for PTFC to be at the heart of the community.
COMMUNITY EVENT
Glastonhead!
In August 2021 PTFC was proud to host ‘Glastonhead’ – a festival like no other. The event was in aid of fantastic charities the Teenage Cancer Trust and Sarcoma UK, plus first team skipper Nathan Trueman.
Everyone was shaken to the core when, in December 2020, Nathan was diagnosed with a rare, large and incredibly aggressive tumor within the tissue of his right shoulder. As he began his intensive treatment a massive fundraising effort was launched, to support Nathan and his chosen charities.
The fantastic work of #TeamTrueman raised over £50,000, and Glastonhead – the brain child of Sophie Simmonds – contributed a fantastic sum of over £6,000.
Bristol Road was filled with music, food, drink and above all a fantastic turnout of people showing their support for Nathan.
