Portishead Town continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought 3-1 win against Cheltenham Civil Service Ladies. Ruby Lowe opened the scoring in the 10th minute, bundling the ball over the line from a Jessica Smailes corner. Neither side created many chances in the remainder of the half.
Cheltenham started the 2nd half the better side and deservedly equalised through Gemma Riley following a flowing move. This spurned Portishead into life and they had far more of the play although unable to get any meaningful shots on target until Lowe scored her 2nd of the match shooting across the keeper with her weaker left foot into the corner. Three minutes later Shannon Holloway drove down the right wing smashing the ball past the Cheltenham keeper to make the final score Cheltenham 1 Portishead 3
Robert John Hairdressing players of the match were Imogen Fisher and Jessica Smailes
