Portishead maintain top spot in AYL Div 1
Injuries and knocks again continued to be an issue within the team but Portishead was again able to come away with the win.
Portishead got off to a perfect start when after just 4 minutes Aldo Honor played a nice ball into makeshift forward James Tait (in the absence of Alex Esposito) who finished with a delightful looping finish over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0
Portishead popped up with a lovely finish to make it 2-0 and Oscar Boorman managed to get down the right wing to the byline before sending over a perfect cross to the far post where Kevin Gohomene finished to make it 2-0
After 25 minutes Sammy Foster was unlucky to see his drive cannon off the crossbar.
Soon after Portishead were dramatically to be further denied where Oscar Boorman fired a shot which was destined for the top corner only to be clearly palmed away by a Chilcompton defender, which was seen by everyone, except for the referee. However, credit to the Portishead players who got on with the game.
Positions were changed at halftime as the team was rotated and some aching bodies rested. Sam Lead and Aldo Honour heading the strikeforce and captain Toby Webb moving into midfield.
7 minutes into the second half Chilcomptonn pulled a goal back as the Chilcompton left winger was allowed to bear in towards goal before finishing with a low shot 2-1
Portishead continued to dominate possession but failed to at times find the space to hit the target and some wasteful crossing.
However, 21 minutes into the second half Portishead finally increased the score with nice link-up play between Sammy Foster who slid the ball into Oscar Boorman who finished with a composed lop over the oncoming keeper. 3-1
2 late goals were to follow as the visitors started to lose their composure. The first came through the usual calm finish by Sammy Foster 4-1 and then a 5th different scorer as Piotr Petrynski picked up another goal in what has been a great season for him finishing in off the far post to make it 5-1
