Town U14's 2 - 7 Shire Colts
Bad Day At The Office
A tough morning for Portishead Town U14s, as a much improved Shire Colts side showed their quality on the Gordano pitches.
The home side started brightly, with Woody Cornish
at his tenacious best, hurrying the Shire backline with his pace and strength. It was his powerful run and cross that brought the first goal after 10 minutes. Louie Osment
was the grateful recipient, shifting his feet tidily to slot home.
The lead was short-lived, however, as the Shire frontman found his range. But 3-1 was surely harsh on Town at half time.
Despite some resolute defending across the back four, the visitors stretched their lead in the second half. More accurately Buster stretched his lead, scoring 5 goals. But it wasn’t all one way, as determined work on the right set up Louie Freeman to find the bottom right corner But alas, Shire pushed again and took the game away from Town.
A fair result, but the 7-2 scoreline belied the valiant performance all over the pitch from Portishead Town. Woody was man of the match for his grit and positivity.
