Derby match ends in heavy defeat for Town
Saturday 7th October saw our regular lesson in good football against Juniors. The analogy I’ve been using recently with the boys comes from cricket. There are 6 balls in an over you can bowl three brilliant balls that go past the edge, feel good and think a wicket is coming. You can then bowl three long hops and get hit for six. The three good balls count for nothing without consistency. No grumbles at today 5- 0 win to juniors, they are a good team who have played together, without changes, for 6 years. We need to be bowling five good balls an over with a little more luck if we are to match them. Great work early on from Jack and Woody up front alongside our back three who worked tirelessly with no luck. A tough day for our midfielders too, grit and determination in abundance but this now needs to be matched with a little more team work and calmer heads.
Luke is making regular important saves for us in these games, a little more tidying up and commitment around him and we will start keeping clean sheets.
Daniel Earl showed us all how to put energy and commitment into his wing play but Woody was our man of the math for his power and running. A little more luck at the right time and Woody will have a hatful of goals.
Lesson from this game – we need to make our own luck a little more. This can be done by bowling more wicket taking balls and avoiding the long hops.
